What it measures.

6 results across the parts below, each in plain English. This describes what a lab measures; it cannot tell you what your own result means.

  • Total cholesterol

All the cholesterol carried in the blood, across every type of particle.

  • LDL cholesterolLDL

Cholesterol carried in low density lipoproteins. Many labs calculate it from the other lipid results.

  • HDL cholesterolHDL

Cholesterol carried in high density lipoproteins.

  • Non HDL cholesterolNon HDL

Total cholesterol minus HDL cholesterol: the cholesterol in every other kind of particle.

  • Triglycerides

The most common type of fat in the blood. A recent meal raises it, which is why it is often measured fasting.

How to prepare.

  1. Fasting 12 to 14 hours. Water is fine.
  • Heart7 markers

    Lipid panel with ratios

Cholesterol and triglycerides with the LDL to HDL and total to HDL ratios.

    • Fasting 12 to 14 hours

Total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, Non HDL and more

  • Heart3 markers

    Apolipoprotein B and A1

Counts LDL type particles through ApoB, with ApoA1 and their ratio.

    ApoB, ApoA1, ApoB/A1
